Recent Graduate Wins Bracelet In No-Limit Event At WSOP

The World Series of Poker is so close that the excitement is starting to build. For a Canadian student who just graduated from college, however, there already has been plenty to get excited about.
Max Greenwood, a student who graduated from the University of Toronto just two weeks ago, had one of his dreams come true. He became the latest player to claim a World Series of Poker bracelet.
Greenwood had to survive some intense moments to take home the title in Event #44, a No-Limit Hold’em tournament with rebuys. Although he might have a career in something else thanks to his schooling, he became rich because of his card playing.
For winning the tournament, Greenwood took home $693,444. He found himself in one of the fiercest heads up battles that we have seen up until this point at this year’s WSOP. Denmark’s Rene Mouritsen was his opponent and the two fought through thirty three hands of heads up before Greenwood prevailed.
“I was just having a really awesome time. We had all the Danes in the crowd and a bunch of my friends, everyone was drinking and having a good time. I wasn’t really thinking about the money. I was just trying to play the best I could,” said Greenwood.
Greenwood eventually wore down Mouritsen and won the tournament while holding A-J to Mouritsen’s K-J. Mouritsen won $445,523 for finishing as the tournaments runner up.…
